Trey Burnette is a writer and photographer based in California. His writing has appeared in The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, NBC News/NBC THINK, Los Angeles Review of Books, Kelp Journal, Coachella Review, and Cheat River Review. He is a regular contributor to DAP Health magazine. His photography has been published by The Sun magazine, Kelp Journal, Tulsa Review, and Busy Women Write Books
His work often focuses on the LQBTQ+ and other marginalized communities and involves themes of mental and physical health, class, grief, and sexuality.
His writing has been featured in best of collections for the Los Angeles Times and Kelp Journal.
The Los Angeles Center of Photography awarded him an Honorable Mention for their
Thresholds 2024: Photography and Urban Architecture exhibit.
Trey has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California at Riverside and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Southern California. He studied comedy writing with The Groundlings and The Second City in Los Angeles, and copyediting at the University of California at San Diego. He lives in Palm Springs with his husband and their Lagotto Romagnolo.
